HK-410B, SH 18-16, Kentucky State Fund Dollar, a souvenir of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. One of the “unicorns” of the 1915 Expo SCD issues, left out of the first edition of H & K due to its rarity. Included in the Second, with a then-estimated survival of perhaps 2-3 dozen pieces. That is certainly overestimating the overall rarity, based upon observed listings on ebay over the last 20 years, as more than that appear to have survived. However, the vast majority of survivors are rim dinged, rough or damaged, typically severely, or were struck as fobs and had a loop removed. This piece grades Almost Uncirculated and is damage free, despite NGC's notation of "environmental damage". That term is used for any surface issues that prevent certification in a "clean" holder, in this case the moderate surface darkness that is a very mild corrosion in areas of the Bronze surface. I sent it to NGC knowing it was only a 50-50 proposition of passing due to the surfaces, hoping it would certify in a non-details holder, as the certified Population is only 7 pieces (6 circ, one Unc). Until fairly recently, and for many years, there were only four certified circulated examples total at NGC (PCGS still Zero I believe). However, a certified Pop of only SIX circ pieces after 30 years of grading, says a lot about the availability of any HK-410B that stands any chance of getting holdered. The piece offered here has some extremely light surface issues typical of a piece long stored under non-numismatic conditions, so might be worth cracking out and conserving, however I don’t see it as a significant “problem” piece necessarily. Considering that you can go multiple years without finding anything other than something beat up and unattractive, this offers an intriguing possibility for the serious SCD collector. Images shown in the NGC encapsulation as well as those taken prior to submission, as they show the detail a bit better. For reference, an NGC AU Details piece with fob loop sold at $281 although that was 2019. A raw non-looped example in maybe VF/EF with Obverse corrosion (and which had been cleaned) sold at $372 in 2021. Given that this is certified and perhaps has less problems than the last example mentioned (certainly more detail), the price shown seems reasonable. Due to value this will require Insured shipping with Signature Confirmation, hence the S&H shown.

All checks must clear prior to payment of purchase, which may take up to 12 Business days. IF YOU CHOOSE TO PURCHASE MULTIPLE ITEMS, PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE PRIOR TO PAYMENT. I combine all shipping charges to the minimum necessary to get purchases to the customer. Please be aware that the USPS has recently increased postage for package shipments and Insurance - $7-$9 for shipping may look like a lot, but it barely covers my actual cost. If you have any questions, just ask.
