In the photos I have it compared to an ANACS AU-58 and it is far superior.
This coin is PCGS graded and certified as Type 2 so that eliminates any chance of error in your purchase. The regular 1972 coin is worth only a fraction of the Type 2.
The current PCGS price guide lists an Extra-Fine (EF) 40 at $65.00 this is an Almost Uncirculated (AU)-55
These 1972 Type 2 Ike dollars were not released in mint sets. Ikes were not placed in mint sets until 1973.
The 1972 Ikes came to the banks from the US mint in huge bags resulting in heavy contact with abrasions and nicks as it is a large coin with a huge flat surface on the obverse (front)..
The Type 2 Ikes were not immediately discovered and few people wanted the general circulation coins from the bank "Business Strikes" as the mint has released encapsulated 40% silver and proof Ikes with a premium for collectors.
This resulted in many being used in commercial transactions and degraded.
