Lot of Eight (8) Mint State Walking Liberty Half Dollars 1941-D-1947 Choice BU Green or Tan PCI Holder

This listing is for a group of eight (8) Mint State Walking Liberty Half Dollars all in older PCI Holders from the late 1980s. All the holders have green (7) or tan (1) borders.

$359.99 for all 8 coins - $45 per coin average.

The Green Borders were among the original PCI holders (they used red borders to signify problem coins). Some years later, after an ownership change, they shifted to the tan borders. It is common knowledge within the numismatic community the green bordered generation was regarded as solid, conservative grading. The generation with the tan borders was considered to be a bit looser, although overall, generally still solid and reasonably respected.

The coins included and a quick breakdown are:

1941-D -  PCI MS64 Tan Border -Very choice BU coin, well-struck with frosty luster

1942 - PCI MS63 Green Border - Choice BU, nearly 100% white. Frosty

1943 -  PCI MS64 PQ - Green Border. Very Choice to Gem BU Noted as 95% white and PQ and fully agree with those sentiments

1944 - PCI MS60 - Green Border. Probably the lowest technical grade of the group. Uncirculated and not cleaned, just a few bag marks and more muted luster hold the technical grade down.

1945 - PCI MS63 - Green Border. Very Choice to Gem BU. Frosty. 95% white and accurately noted as such.

1946 - PCI MS63 - Green Border. Choice BU 90% White with frosty luster.

1946-D - PCI MS63 - Green Border. Better date noted as 75% white (seems north of 80% to me, but that is just my opinion). Lustrous and very sharply struck.

1947 - PCI MS64 - Green Border - Very Choice to Gem BU. Almost 100% white and very frosty and fully struck.

This coins are all encapsulated in highly collectible old PCI Holders. 7 of which have Green Borders and one (1) has the tan border.
