The Japanese "Tanaka Detachment" landed at Aparri and Gonzaga, Province of Cagayan, Philippines,
on October 12, 1941.and occupied the Capital, Tuguegarao and its Airfield.
Provincial Governor Marcelo Addvru evacuated the entire Provincial Government
to the Municipality of Tuao, where it continued to function dispite its isolation .
In order to pay the necessary expenditures Emergency Treasury Certificates
were issued on January 1, 1942.
After the first issue was exhausted (series # 0101 - 21000). A second issue of
currency was provided (B), utilizing the Stock of Internal Revenue Stamps
