OBW Shotgun BU Roll 40 Coins 1964 90% Silver Uncirculated Washington Quarters

This listing is for a "Bank Wrapped" OBW Shotgun BU Roll of  1964 Philadelphia Mint issue Washington Quarters.

One end looks to have been opened (not by me, this is how it was purchased at a local auction a couple years ago). It was common practice for coin dealers to open one end of the roll to verify the top few coins were all the same date, mint mark and uncirculated. The integrity of the roll is not affected and the roll remains in great shape.

We very seldom attach the adjective "GEM" to our raw coin listings. As someone who submits hundreds of coins per year to the top tier grading service in Newport Beach, CA., we fully understand and appreciate just how difficult it is to earn these grades. The fact is, the vast majority of what is advertised as Gem BU or Gem Roll, is pathetically false. Gems are rare, diamonds in the rough. 1 in 50. The term is widely overused today and in many cases, attached to every item certain people sell. That's not to say there aren't gem quality quarters in this roll; on the contrary, I am very confident many would grade as the bottom numerical grade for what constitutes a gem grade. But, I will not call this entire roll "Gem BU".
