This 1889 Half Eagle is a very heavily circulated coin . . . at first it seems pretty amazing that it circulated for so long when one considers that just 7,565 pieces were struck. Apparently, collectors were not focused on pulling gold coins from circulation, which makes sense because $5 represented so much more of their income at the time than it does today.
Not a very special looking coin, but considering the modest premium over intrinsic value, the offered price should be attractive enough for such a scarcity.
