ORIGINAL BU Roll 1938 Jefferson Nickels 40 Coins Beautiful! Greysheet $360/$470
Tough Date Roll!
This listing is for a very scarcely seen full original BU Roll of 1938 Jefferson Nickels. There are certain items I seldom take out of the safe with the intent to sell and this roll is getting close to that territory.
This is a beautiful Full BU roll of the first year of issue, 1938 Jefferson Nickels, Philadelphia Mint issue. 40 coins - all of similar strike, tone, and overall appearance that have been together stored away for many moons.
When it comes to valuable rolls, more often than not the branch mint rolls are worth more than the Philadelphia rolls, but there are many exceptions to that rule, such as many late 40s and early 50s Lincoln Cents, the 1949 Philly Quartrer roll is worth twice as much as the Denver roll, et. al. But, more on topic, also on that list would be the 1938 Jefferson Nickel BU Roll. The Philadelphia roll is the scarcest and most valuable with an Ask of $360 and a Bid of $470. Denver and San Francisco issues list about $75-100 less.
Beautiful roll with some very nice toned coins mixed in.
Greysheet Bid/Ask for this roll is $360/$470.
At the time of this listing, I see only 2 other BU Rolls of 1938 Jefferson Nickels for sale on eBay.
We almost never apply the adjective Gem or Gem BU to raw coins understanding just how difficult it is to obtain those grades from the top two Third Party Grading Services. Overusing this term diminishes the value of coins truly deservant of this descriptor. It's also blatnantly false to use that term so casually and lightly.
Your bid is for the exact roll pictured. If you have any questions, please let me know.
