A gold colored PROOF replica of the 50 dollar gold PLATED coin. It is clearly marked copy on the reverse side next to the owl. The original was sold at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal, the 400th anniversary of the "discovery" of the Pacific Ocean by Balboa, and to say to the world that San Francisco had fully recovered from the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire. This coin is a beautiful replica depicting Minerva the Goddess of Wisdom on one side and a wise old owl on the other side. It measures 1 5/8" in diameter and comes in a ENCAPSULATED case. It has a brilliant gold colored sheen and is in mint condition.
