Based on some sold Auction prices, I've REDUCED THE PRICE!!
Up for sale today is the rare 2005-D speared bison and it's graded by ANACS.
Ok so here is the deal with these nickels. The spear is a die gouge that goes from the bottom of the E in STATES to the front of the bison's "manhood" (REALLY hard to photo, but I tried, its the zoomed in photo)
The "speared bison" nickels are listed in the top 100 modern coins by PCGS and in "100 Greatest Modern coins" by Whitman publishing. I don't remember what the ranking is.
In theory there are somewhere around 1000 of these errors known to have been made.
Keep in mind that the rare one here is the Denver mint, not the Philadelphia error.
