Truly Original BU Roll 1959-D 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes Frosty Luster

Listing is for  one (1) truly original roll of 1959-D BU 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes in Gem Uncirculated condition housed in translucent, soft plastic vintage tube. The tape that was wrapped around the tube and cap was brittle and old. it had to be cut so I could put the dimes on display. I hate to have to do that, but there s no other way as we have to demo the coins for sale. The string tape is frayed and shows age and patina.

These days so many sellers use (overuse) the term Original, Gem, from original roll. Some use these adjectives in almost every single one of their listings. By applying the term Gem to all of your listings, you are diminishing the value of gem to average or below average. It is on auto pilot in many descriptions. How can an unopened bank wrapped roll of coins be stamped as Gem if they have never been opened? What, from the end of roll coin that while toned, almost always exhibits bag marks and imperfections from being exposed?

I digress

When we use these terms, we do so very carefully and conservatively.  We cannot state with certainty anything is is original unless we have had sole custody of said item from inception. I look for signs of originality. Absent of any "red flags", we can assume said item is more likely than not to be original. But, we don't stop there. We ensure the edges and patina of a roll all match and appear to be consistent with being together and from the same batch before we stamp the adjective Original to any of our listings. Less than 15% of our listings have the term original in them, and for non graded coins, and less than 10% have the term gem, even though we could use both more liberally - we prefer to be conservative and would rather under use these terms than overuse them..

I would suggest to everyone  - Do your own homework before buying anything. You will save yourself a lot of stress and money later while enjoying the interesting educational things you learn along the way!
