UNITED STATES OF AMERICA YOUNG ASTRONAUTS 1988 NASA TOKEN
1988-P, Space Shuttle / Young Astronauts, U.S. Mint Medal. The weight of the medal is 26.1 grams or .92 of an ounce, and its diameter is 38 mm or 1.5 inches. The medal is struck in Bronze. Both sides of the medal are struck in low relief!
The obverse depicts the Space Shuttle in front of American Flag motif at the center. The word "LIBERTY" appears at the top. A "P" (Philadelphia Mint Mark) centered on one of the flag stripes to the left of the Space Shuttle. To the right of the Space Shuttle the date 1988.
The reverse depicts a Bald Eagle perched atop the Young Astronauts Program Emblem, with Wings Spread at the center. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" at the top of the Medal. There are 12 Stars staggered in 2 rows, 7 to the left of the Young Astronauts Program Emblem, and 5 stars to the right of it.
This Young Astronauts Medal ships in its original Coin Capsule from the U.S. Mint.
