This variety of the 1828 Capped Bust Dime has a small date. In addition: The base of the "2" in the 1828 date is square shaped at a right angle. The difference between the 1828 Large Date vs Small Date Capped Bust Dime can be seen in the example image of the coins below. Note the Curl Base "2" vs Square Base "2" depicted by the arrows. The small date - square base "2" variety is actually the newer reduced sized type dime.
