One major variety of the 1797 Draped Bust Large Cent (Penny) features the Reverse of 1795. This is the older design which features between 17-21 leaves on the left side branch and 16-20 leaves on the right side branch. The most notable feature is there is only one single leaf on the top of the right-side branch which identifies it as the 1795 reverse design. In addition: This variety features a plain edge on the coin. This means the edge doesn't have any groves but is perfectly smooth unlike the gripped edge variety. An example of the gripped edge is depicted below:
