What this coin looks like (obverse, reverse, mint mark location, special features, etc.):
One major variety is the 1827/6 Capped Bust Half Dollar with a 7 Over 6 overdate. This coin features an 1827 date struck over an 1826 date die which resulted in parts of the underlying "6" being visible around the "7". A prominent portion of the "6" is visible on the right side of the "7" and a small subtle portion is sometimes seen under the top cross bar on the left side of the "7". In addition: The bottom of the "7" is noticeably thicker and larger - and also "droops" down a bit towards the rim of the coin as well. These features are depicted by the arrows in the example image above.
