One major variety of the 1797 Draped Bust Silver Dollar features an obverse design with 9 stars on the left side of the coin and 7 stars on the right side. The reverse of the coin also features larger letters.

There were two major varieties for the obverse design. One variety features 9 stars on the left and 7 on the right. The other variety features 10 stars on the left and 6 on the right. There are also two major varieties for the reverse of the coin - specifically the size of the letters in the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". One variety features small letters which are further away from the rim while the other features larger letters much closer to the rim with less spacing.
