What this coin looks like (obverse, reverse, mint mark location, special features, etc.):
1901 Morgan Silver Dollar - Doubled Die Reverse DDR

One major variety is the 1901 Morgan Silver Dollar Doubled Die Reverse (DDR) - Sometimes known as the "Shifted Eagle" VAM-3 variety. This coin features very prominent doubling of the eagle portrait on the reverse of the coin. The eagle is shifted upwards - which resulted in slight doubling below the main eagle portrait. The easiest way to identify this doubled die variety is to note the doubling of all of the eagle feathers and a doubling under each of the eagle wings. The arrows in the eagle claw are slightly doubled and the lower beak of the eagle is doubled. Towards the upper-portion of the portrait - some of the letters in the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" are also doubled. These features are depicted by the arrows in the example image above.
