One major variety of the 1797 Draped Bust Large Cent (Penny) features the Reverse of 1795. This is the older design which features between 17-21 leaves on the left side branch and 16-20 leaves on the right side branch. The most notable feature is there is only one single leaf on the top of the right-side branch which identifies it as the 1795 reverse design. In addition: This variety features a gripped edge on the coin. Unlike the smooth plain edge - This edge features small grooves along the edges of the coin. An example of the gripped edge is depicted below:
