I started collecting in the early 1950’s when I received a Whitman penny folder as a birthday gift. A nightly ritual ensued where I checked my Dad’s pocket change for pennies to fill empty spots. That was 60 years ago!
Over time, pennies grew to nickels, dimes, and even an occasional half dollar. I also developed an interest in varieties and errors. Collecting took a four-year hiatus during college when part time jobs just barely covered tuition and a modest social life. Then collecting remained on the back burner while I raised a family and pursued a career path. Now I am retired and am once again dabbling in coins.
I'm now retired and augmenting Social Security by selling some of the coins accumulated over the years.
