One major variety of the 1861 O Seated Liberty Half Dollar features a small crack on the obverse of the coin. Even more interesting is the fact that this is the same exact die that the Confederate States of America (CSA) used to coin their Confederate Half Dollars as they also have the same crack on their coins. This coin can be identified by locating a small crack on the coin that extends from the nose of Lady Liberty all the way up to the rim of the coin as depicted by the arrows in the example image above.
